Dom Taylor
Chef & Author
Dom Taylor is an award-winning chef and author whose cooking celebrates the depth, diversity and creativity of Caribbean food, drawing on his Jamaican heritage and the flavours and traditions that have shaped his culinary journey.
Caribbean Food, Centre Stage
Born and raised in London to a Jamaican mother and Saint Lucian father, Dom Taylor grew up with Caribbean food at the heart of family life — learning from his mother, grandmother and aunties, and absorbing the flavours, rituals and generosity that surrounded the family table.
After training in classical French cookery, Dom built a career in professional kitchens before turning his attention more fully to the food of his own heritage, developing a style that celebrated Caribbean cooking through a contemporary lens.
In 2023, he won Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef, leading to The Good Front Room at The Langham in London. What began as a residency grew into something much bigger, and in 2026 The Good Front Room found a permanent home in Dalston.
Dom's work championed both sides of his Caribbean heritage and helped give Caribbean cooking the platform and recognition he believed it deserved. Following his passing in 2026, that legacy continues through The Good Front Room and the food, stories and people he inspired.
The Good Front Room
The Good Front Room is Dom Taylor's celebration of Caribbean food, hospitality and the memories that shaped him.
Inspired by the "good front room" in his great-aunt Myrtle's home — a space kept pristine and reserved for special guests — the restaurant takes something instantly familiar across many Caribbean households and reimagines it through food.
After beginning as Dom's acclaimed residency at The Langham, The Good Front Room found a permanent home in Dalston, East London, bringing together Caribbean culinary traditions, classical technique and Dom's distinctive approach to modern Caribbean cooking.
Following Dom's passing in 2026, The Good Front Room continues his work and honours the legacy, stories and food he created.
